Tourgasm

Thursday, August 17th, 2006

Are you familiar with the name Dane Cook? I have seen the man perform on Comedy Central but I have never caught his name until recently on HBO while watching his show/documentary “Tourgasm”. I have completed the entire 9 episodes and I enjoyed it a lot. While it is only available on HBO atm, I believe it will be on DVD very soon. The show had it’s ups and downs, lots of drama but most of all it was very funny and entertaining with a twist for each episode. I highly recommend this for those that enjoy Comedy Central and so on.

Something from wikipedia describing this show:

Tourgasm was a 30-day 20-show stand-up comedy tour in 2005 featuring Dane Cook and 3 of his best friends in the industry: Gary Gulman, Jay Davis, and Robert Kelly. The tour was filmed in its entirety and is being aired on HBO as a documentary in June of 2006. The documentary was created and directed by Dane Cook. Gary Gulman left the tour because of unknown reasons, but returned after a few days. At each destination Dane Cook and fellow comedians play a game or do an activity before performing. Some of the events include horseback riding, riding Segway scooters, and visiting Niagara Falls. These events usually get out of hand, such as when the Niagara Falls trip involved throwing hats off of the ledge.

How Self-parking Cars Work

Thursday, August 17th, 2006

Here in New York City, finding a place to park your car even if just for 10 min can be a very long journey. Sometimes when you do find a spot to park your sedan, you run into another obastacle for those of us that are not very skilled or experienced in parallel parking. How do I park my car without damaging anything and do it quick?!

I found this link to be very interesting on how the new technology on the market is changing lives, especially for those of us living in the city.

Dell to recall 4 million batteries

Tuesday, August 15th, 2006

As a Dell Inspiron user myself, I was a bit worried to hear about the battery issues as I know my laptop does overheat during the hot summer without AC turned on that is. Here’s some info on the battery issue and which models are affected.

Dell has identified a potential issue associated with certain batteries sold with Dell Latitudeâ„¢, Inspironâ„¢, XPSâ„¢ and Dell Precision Mobile Workstationâ„¢ notebook computers. In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and other regulatory agencies, Dell is voluntarily recalling certain Dell-branded batteries with cells manufactured by Sony and offering free replacements for these batteries. Under rare conditions, it is possible for these batteries to overheat, which could pose a risk of fire

Potentially affected batteries were sold with the following models of Dell notebook computers or separately as secondary batteries:

  • Latitude: D410, D500, D505, D510, D520, D600, D610, D620, D800, D810
  • Inspiron: 500M, 510M, 600M, 700M, 710M, 6000, 6400, 8500, 8600, 9100, 9200, 9300, 9400, E1505, E1705
  • Precision: M20, M60, M70, M90
  • XPS: XPS, XPS Gen2, XPS M170, XPS M1710

The Coolest Ant Farm Ever

Sunday, August 13th, 2006

Found this to be very cool, this is a must have for christmas :D

antworks_version2.jpg

“Fascinating creatures ants. Sure you hate to see them in your socks or making a B-line for that pizza crust crumb you forgot to sweep up at the local LAN party. But let’s give credit where credit is due. Ants are amazing. Ants can lift up to 20x their body weight! They have two stomachs and three eyes! They also have uncanny communication skills and amazing abilities to work together to achieve a common goal.

This miraculous gel, derived from a NASA Space experiment, serves as both habitat and nutrition for your ants – allowing you to watch in awe as they turn a brick of aqua-blue gel into a fascinating colony of tunnels. Never before have you been so capable of watching these awesome creatures at work. ”

The Cingular 8125

Friday, August 11th, 2006

Just reporting about a new piece of technology I purchased the other day.

It is the Cingular 8125. While I am a bit unhappy to hear about the fact that the Treo 750 is coming to Cingular very soon right after I got my 8125, I am still pretty glad I got it with a 6 Month free PDA Unlimited internet access plan with a 2 yr Contract.

One thing I have to say is I’m amazed by the phone’s design, I really like how the Cingular 8125 (aka HTC Wizard) was designed so you can switch back and forth between the keyboard or use the touch screen and so on. It is also very flexible and easy to get it setup. Only problem with the Cingular 8125 is the EDGE Network, which I have heard from various users the speed was around 100kb/s gor average downloads, but since August it has been stuck at around 20-40 for most users including myself. Hopefully that will get resolved pretty quick.

The browser PIE basically allows you to view most sites pretty quickly and you can always get Opera Mobile to browse the more complex websites if needed. Agile Messenger also works very nice, AIM/YIM/ICQ/MSN all built in together and is free!

Here’s an image for the 8125 and also a picture of the Treo 750 taken from engadget.
