CCK: If you ask any Drupal user what the one module is that they can’t live without, there is a very good chance that the answer you are going to get is the CCK module. The CCK module (which is short for Content Construction Kit) is one of those modules that if you have been using Drupal without it, once you do start using this module, you will smack yourself on the forehead and ask yourself why you waited so long to start using this module.
The real beauty of this module is its extensive functionality. From changing the specific fields of an existing content type to creating something new (like a biography or event), this module will allow you to take your Drupal experience to the next level. Best of all, this module could not be more user friendly, so you can take full advantage of it even without a bit of programming knowledge!
Views: As anyone who has used Drupal before knows, nodes are one of the core elements of this CMS. As you might have already guessed, the reason that the Views module is number two on this list is because it gives you control over how the nodes are displayed. Whether it’s comments, users or any other node, the Views module should give you the power to implement any display changes that you want.
Best of all, the Views module works well with the CCK module, so if you start using both of these modules today, you are going to be a very happy Drupal user!
Administration Menu: Whether you are a novice or an expert when it comes to the Drupal platform, I am confident that this is a module that you can benefit from using. The reason that I say this is because this module creates a Drupal back-end for you to use. Not only does it give you an extremely useful administration area, but it displays everything in a well-organized CSS layout.
Token: While the other modules in this list can be used in conjunction with each other, they all still have their own independent functions. However, the interesting thing about this module is that its sole purpose is to interact with other modules. While that may not sound like a very powerful module, once you start digging into Drupal and finding out exactly what it can do, you will find this to be a wonderful module. If you are interested to see what modules Token is intended to work with, you can find them all here.
Pathauto: By default, the URLs that Drupal creates are not the best in the world. However, you can easily fix this issue with this module. Instead of being stuck with the default URL structure, you can setup Drupal to automatically generate the URL structure of your choice. Not only will this make your URLs more user-friendly, but it will also help with your search engine rankings (which can bring in extra traffic to your website). Just like the Views module, if you combine the Pathauto module with the CCK module, you will find that you have a very powerful duo at your disposal!
